Aftercare is Essential

Because we are dealing with skin, the retention of ink & proper healing of your procedure is dependent on many factors from skin type, to lifestyle to health. One of the most important factors is aftercare. Everyone heals differently, but following the aftercare procedures will only help your healed results and protect the investment you made in the procedure.

3D & 4D Nipple and Areola Aftercare

    • If applicable, leave the clear, sterile dressing in place for the first 24-48 hours.

    • After the first 24-48 hours, you may remove the clear, sterile dressing in the shower.

    • After the first 24-48 hours, you are safe to lightly rinse the tattooed areas in the shower, but make sure your back is facing the water. Do not let direct water pressure hit your tattoo sites.

    • If applicable, with clean hands or a cotton swab, apply a new very thin layer of ointment that was provided in your aftercare supplies. The idea is to provide moisture but not to create a barrier. You can then apply a new sterile dressing which you can leave intact for up to 3-5 days.

Avoid for the first 7 days:

    • Sweating

    • Excessive sun exposure

    • Exposure to dust & dirt

    • Cleansing creams & soaps

    Avoid for the first month:

    • Submerging/ swimming in pools, hot tubs, Jacuzzis, or saunas

If you have any signs of infection, contact your doctor immediately, and please also contact us to let us know.

  • Everyone heals differently, but this is the average timeline.

    • Day 1-2: Your tattoo will be darker in color. It may appear red and irritated. Mild discomfort and mild drainage may be present for the first 24-48 hours.

    • Day 3-5: The tattoo will lighten, but the true color will not be seen yet.

    • Day 6-10 Your tattoo site will flake, and it may appear that color is being lost. This is often called the “ghosting phase.” The color will lighten or even disappear, but it should reappear within the next few days. DO NOT pick or peel any flaky, dry skin.

    • Day 11-14 Your tattoo is still healing. The final color result is probably visible now, but it may still change slightly over the next month.

  • Protect your tattoo from the sun to avoid premature fading.
